Lifted

So here's my other CCS story while I'm at it. I was walking across John R. one sunshiney afternoon and about half way across a car comes flying around the corner straight at me. I immediately twisted and jumped and ended up doing a sort of backward rolling somersault across the hood, rolling off the driver side of the windshield. It was totally smooth and I landed on my feet, books still in hand! You'd think I was a professional stuntwoman!

The girl slams on her brakes and yells out the window, "Oh my Gosh, get in the car!! We're on the way to the hospital right now!" I started cracking up laughing. She's like "For real! Please, get in the car, we're taking her to the hospital and we'll take you too!"

I said no, I was fine. The whole thing was bizarre and I was kinda disoriented. I had just gotten hit by a car! But I didn't feel seriously injured. I peeked at the back of my calf which hurt a little and could see a purpley black and blue mark already forming, but I didn't think I needed to go to the hospital.

So the car speeds off on its way and as I turn to continue my short little journey across the street there's this kid just standing there with his mouth hanging open staring at me.

"How did you know to do that?"

I said "Huh?"

He said again, "How did you know to do that? How did you know to jump like that?"

I said I didn't really know, but I guess it was kinda crazy, huh. He said yeah and stared at me like I was an alien.

I said, "Maybe it was my Guardian Angel!" and went on my way.

I kind of said that in jest at the time, not really thinking about it at the moment. But how DID I know to do that crazy jump, turn, tuck and backwards roll move? I could have really been hurt. Had I been hit and fallen I could have been ran over.

But I never even dropped my books!

Psalm 91:11-12

 For he will command his angels concerning you
       to guard you in all your ways;

they will lift you up in their hands,
       so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.

How about you?

Ever had a close call and escaped unhurt? Felt the protective hand of God upon you? Or maybe at the time didn't even enter God into the equation, but upon later thinking are grateful to be sitting here in one piece?
